July 2015 – I have spent quite a lot of time in Toronto lately which has allowed me to discover nice little places where you can enjoy a great cup of coffee (and buy their coffee beans as well for home). Here are some of my favorites:
Balzac’s Coffee : several locations, my favorite being at the Distillery District. The terrasse is nice in the Summer and, if the weather is not cooperating, enjoy your cup in the 2nd floor art gallery. They have a 10th newly opened location at the UP Express station
Jimmy’s Coffee : 3 locations in Toronto, my favorite is in Kensington Market where a nice quiet terrasse in the back of the shop let’s you enjoy your cuppa and, why not, a great zucchini muffin!
Thor’s Espresso Bar : on Bathurst, between King & Front, the Scandinavian design of the place (and the name!) is really nice, a great little terrasse and most important, great coffee.
Café Pamenar : this one comes in first or second place for best coffee so far! One location is on Augusta St., in Kensington Market. A nice terrasse awaits you in the back of the store.
Sam & James Coffee Bar : 3 locations (I went to the one on Harbord). Discovered at the end of a meal in a Parkdale restaurant where found the coffee to be especially good! This location is a small place with very limited seating, but really great coffee.
