June 2015 – I had the chance to stay twice at the Park Hotel in Tokyo. A beautiful hotel, on the last 10 floors of the Shiodome Media Tower. The views from the rooms are great, with the best ones on the Tokyo Tower side: if you’re Lucky, Mt Fuji will even make an appearance!
The location is hard to beat : 2 major subway lines, the automated Yurikamome line and the Shimbashi train station are connected to the hotel by pedestrian bridges and underground passages and you’re just a short walk away from Ginza. Shiodome is quieter in the evening, but several small and inexpensive restaurants are open in the evening to cater to late working office workers and tourists lucky enough to have found them!
Artist in the Hotel Project: the hotel has asked local artists to redecorate some of their rooms and by 2016, a whole floor will feature artist-designed rooms. Have a look at the Spoon & Tamago post (link below) and the hotel website. Cool!
Breakfast idea : for a great & inexpensive breakfast with a view (picture), visit the amazing food halls in the basements of Tokyo’s department stores! Fauchon, Joel Robuchon, Maison Keizer, etc. all sell great French pastries and breads for the perfect breakfast!
Budget Tip : to get the best rates, check the hotel website for early bird & longer stays specials.
